We are winding down to the historic event of the first Amercian Presidential Candidate Debate. As the October 3rd debate closes in, we wanted to share another candidate’s interview with you. This post will share the views and background of Samantha Adams.
Adams provided this information to the Grand Pooba Committee ( headed by Speaker Rotolo and his assistant Borg Operative Jessica Smith) that disseminates collective information regarding candidates in the race:
Samantha Adams was born in Westport, Connecticut in 1968 and attended Tufts University for undergraduate degrees in Business and Theater and received a joint JD and MBA from Harvard College. She is married to the CEO of Telemericorp, John Adams, and they both attend Roman Catholic church every Sunday with their two children Ashley and John Jr. Prior to being Governor of Massachusetts, Samantha was a corporate lawyer for the largest regional New England bank.
Adams identifies as a moderate Republican. Previously known as Rockefeller Republicans, the term “moderate Republican” refers to a faction of the United States Republican Party who hold moderate to liberal views similar to those of Nelson Rockefeller. The term largely fell out of use by the end of the twentieth century, and has been replaced by the terms “moderate Republican” and “RINO” (Republican In Name Only). Modern Rockefeller Republicans are typically center-right, reject far-right policies, and are culturally liberal. Many espouse government and private investments in environmentalism, healthcare and higher education as necessities for the nation’s growth, in the tradition of Nelson Rockefeller, Alexander Hamilton and Theodore Roosevelt. In general, Rockefeller Republicans oppose socialism and the redistribution of wealth while supporting some pragmatic regulation of business and federal social programs in matters pertaining to the public good. They represent a diversity of views on foreign policy, but historically most were considered “hawks” against communism and strong supporters of American business abroad. Rockefeller Republicans were very common in the New England, West Coast, and the Middle Atlantic States, where there historically existed larger liberal constituencies. Our next guest is the always entertaining, Carter Rhodes. You may recognize his name from late night TV. His comedic puns jettisoned at political guests are an act to behold. It was a great surprise when we learned his proverbial hat was thrown into the ring for the race for president. When we asked Rhodes why he thought he should run for office his replay was that as a satirist he had to know both sides of the story the create a good show. This made him knowledgeable about all things political.
This brief history of Mr. Rhodes was found on his website:
“Carter Rhodes was born without a middle name on Long Island, New York where he quickly learned to mispronounce the word “water.” The only child of parents Harrison and Irene Rhodes, he graduated from South Side High School in the top 3% of his class (a school that’s also famous for producing Howard Stern). He studied political science at the University of Virginia, minoring in philosophy and setting himself up to study law at Syracuse University’s College of Law.”
When viewing his website it was interesting to see he chose “It’s time to take politics seriously” as his tag. The irony alone is amusing as we am confident he intended. It was a great surprise to hear Mr. Rhodes speak of serious matters. Listen for yourself and as we give you the opportunity to hear it “In His Own Words”. Listen now.
Gov. Adams and Me Rhodes, we wish you great success in the upcoming debates and election. Remember to check back frequently for updates at Amercia Gazette – “Bringing you the NEW News of Amercia”.
